Tour Overview

The Premium Nepal Motorbike Tour is a 7-day Royal Enfield journey designed for riders who want to experience Nepal beyond one destination. This route connects the cultural energy of Kathmandu, the jungle landscape of Chitwan, the sacred Buddhist atmosphere of Lumbini, the hill-town charm of Tansen, and the lake city of Pokhara before returning to Kathmandu.

Unlike high-altitude Himalayan motorbike routes, this itinerary keeps the riding moderate and accessible while still offering a rich variety of scenery. Riders move from urban streets and river highways to subtropical forests, open Terai plains, historic towns, quiet lakeside roads, and mountain-view sections. The experience is ideal for travelers who want a balanced combination of riding freedom, nature, culture, wildlife, spirituality and comfort.

Gateway Adventure arranges the trip with selected hotels and resorts, Royal Enfield motorcycles, route briefing, guide support, basic mechanical backup and flexible sightseeing. The route is suitable for confident riders with regular road experience, and optional support vehicle arrangements are available for added convenience.

Useful Information

Best Time for Nepal Motorbike Tour

The best seasons for this tour are spring, from February to May, and autumn, from September to November. These months usually provide comfortable riding temperatures, clearer skies and better road visibility. Winter can also be possible because the route stays at low altitude, but mornings and evenings may be cooler. The monsoon period can bring heavy rain, slippery roads, traffic disruption and reduced visibility, so it is less ideal for motorbike touring.

Difficulty Level

This tour is rated moderate. It is not a high-altitude or technical off-road expedition, but riders should be confident handling a motorcycle on busy city streets, curving highways, occasional rough patches, wet roads, village traffic and long riding days. A minimum of regular road riding experience is strongly recommended.

Riding Style and Motorcycle

Gateway Adventure usually provides Royal Enfield Classic 350 cc motorcycles or similar models suitable for Nepal's mixed road conditions. These bikes are comfortable for highway touring, easy to repair locally and practical for group rides. Before departure, the guide and mechanic will inspect the motorcycles and give basic route and safety instructions.

Accommodation and Meals

Accommodation is arranged in hotels and resorts based on the selected package category. Kathmandu, Lumbini and Pokhara stays are generally in three-star or similar hotels, while Chitwan is arranged in a resort-style property. Breakfast is included in most hotel stays, and full board meals are included during the Chitwan section as per the itinerary. Other meals depend on the final package plan.

Safety and Support

Rider safety is managed through route briefing, group riding discipline, guide coordination, basic mechanical assistance and emergency communication support. A support vehicle is recommended for luggage, spare parts and rider assistance, especially for larger groups or private premium departures. Riders must follow guide instructions, avoid speeding and never ride under the influence of alcohol.

Travel Insurance

Each rider should arrange travel insurance that covers motorbike riding, medical treatment, accident expenses, emergency evacuation, trip interruption and personal liability. Motorcycle damage, third-party claims and personal accident-related costs are not included in the package unless specifically covered by the rider's own insurance policy.

Day-wise Itinerary
Detailed itinerary for 7 Days Nepal Motorbike Tour

Welcome to Nepal. After completing arrival formalities at Tribhuvan International Airport, you will be received by the Gateway Adventure team and transferred to your hotel in Kathmandu.

Later in the day, the guide will conduct a tour briefing covering the route, riding discipline, traffic behavior, safety rules, luggage handling, emergency procedures and daily schedule. The motorcycles will be inspected, and riders can request minor adjustments where possible.

In the evening, we take a short familiarization ride around the Kathmandu area. This helps riders adjust to left-side traffic, local road flow and Royal Enfield handling before the longer ride begins the next morning.

Day highlights

  • Airport arrival and private transfer
  • Route briefing and safety orientation
  • Royal Enfield inspection and test ride
  • Free time around Thamel
  • Transport: Airport Pickup
  • Accomodation: Hotel in Kathmandu
  • Meals included: NA

After breakfast, the first full riding day begins as we leave Kathmandu through its busy outskirts and join the highway toward the south. The route follows river valleys, hillsides, roadside markets and rural settlements before gradually descending toward the warmer plains of Chitwan.

This day introduces the rhythm of Nepal road travel, with a mix of city traffic, highway curves, river sections and open stretches. We ride at a controlled group pace, making short stops for photos, hydration and rest.

Upon arrival in Sauraha, we check into the resort near Chitwan National Park. The evening is relaxed, with time to rest, enjoy the resort setting and prepare for the next day's jungle activities.

Day highlights

  • First full riding day
  • River valley and hill highway scenery
  • Arrival in Sauraha, the tourism hub near Chitwan National Park
  • Comfortable resort stay
  • Distance: Approx. 146 km
  • Time: 4 to 5 hours, depending on traffic and stops
  • Max altitude: 415 m
  • Accomodation: Hotel/Lodge
  • Meals included: Breakfast

Today is a rest day for the motorcycles and an active day for nature exploration. Chitwan National Park is known for its riverine forests, grasslands, wetlands and rich wildlife habitat.

Depending on the confirmed program, the day may include a jeep safari, canoe ride on the Rapti River, birdwatching, guided nature walk, visit to the elephant breeding centre area where permitted, and Tharu cultural program in the evening.

Wildlife sightings can never be guaranteed, but the park is well known for one-horned rhinoceros, deer, crocodiles, wild boar, many bird species and, with great luck, larger predators. The day gives riders a meaningful break before returning to the road.

Day highlights

  • Jeep safari or guided jungle program
  • Canoe ride and river wildlife observation
  • Tharu cultural experience

Rest and bike check day

  • Transport: Private motorbike
  • Max altitude: 415 m

After breakfast, we leave Chitwan and ride across the Terai plains toward Lumbini. Compared with the hill highways, this section is flatter and more open, but riders should remain careful because of local traffic, towns, intersections and changing road conditions.

Lumbini is one of the most important Buddhist pilgrimage destinations in the world. After arrival, we visit the main sacred area, including Maya Devi Temple, the Ashoka Pillar, monastic zones, the Eternal Peace Flame area and the World Peace Pagoda area as time allows.

The atmosphere of Lumbini is peaceful and reflective. This day balances riding with spiritual sightseeing, giving travelers a very different experience from the jungle scenery of Chitwan.

Day highlights

  • Terai road riding
  • Maya Devi Temple and sacred garden area
  • International monasteries
  • Peaceful spiritual evening in Lumbini
  • Distance: 129 km
  • Time: 5 to 6 hours including sightseeing time
  • Max altitude: 150 m
  • Accomodation: Hotel
  • Meals included: Breakfast + Dinner

Today we ride from the plains toward the hill region, making this one of the most varied riding days of the tour. The route leaves Lumbini and moves through Butwal before climbing toward Palpa and Tansen.

Tansen is a historic hill town known for its old streets, Newari-influenced culture, local textiles and views from the surrounding ridges. If time, road condition and group pace allow, we may include a scenic detour toward the Rani Mahal area, an old palace set above the Kali Gandaki River.

From Palpa, the route continues through changing hill landscapes toward Pokhara. As we approach the lake city, the ride becomes smoother and more relaxed. After hotel check-in, the evening is free around Lakeside.

Day highlights

  • Transition from Terai plains to hill roads
  • Tansen, Palpa cultural stop
  • Optional Rani Mahal detour where conditions allow
  • Arrival in Pokhara and Lakeside evening
  • Distance: 214 km
  • Max altitude: 822 m
  • Accomodation: Hotel
  • Meals included: Breakfast

We begin the day in Pokhara, with the possibility of beautiful mountain views on a clear morning. After breakfast, we start the final riding section back to Kathmandu along the Prithvi Highway.

The route follows rivers, hill slopes, market towns and classic highway curves. Depending on time and road conditions, we may make short scenic stops around Bandipur, Manakamana viewpoint area or riverbank towns along the way.

After arriving in Kathmandu, riders return the motorcycles and check into the hotel. In the evening, a farewell dinner can be arranged at a Nepali restaurant to celebrate the completion of the ride.

Day highlights

  • Final long ride of the tour
  • Prithvi Highway and river valley scenery
  • Optional Bandipur or Manakamana-area stop
  • Farewell dinner in Kathmandu
